IT Business Applications Developer / Change Management / Project Management
 
Purpose
To provide local application support and ATU Build cover.
 
Leadership & Teamwork
 
The business application developer will be a key contact for internal & external clients. They will have interaction throughout the Change Management team and across all lines of business in Ireland, Work closely with colleagues in NY, UK, and CoE’s.
 
Operational Effectiveness & Control
 
·         Successful conversion of business and client requirements into automated solutions
·         Project & Progress reporting
·         Responsible for group & local standard adherence
·         Completion of the required methodology reporting to ensure clear communication of
·         Lead in the planning, implementation and test phases of projects
·         Application support post live
·         Provide standard documentation
 
Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder’s abilities)
·         Potential significant new business mandates requiring process automation.
·         Potential for short timelines that require a high standard of deliverables and attention to detail.
·         Develop relationships with key areas across the group relevant to the role.
·       Will need to be hands-on, observant and pay close attention to detail. Guidance will be provided by colleagues.
·       Strong organisation, multi – tasking and time management skills required.
·       Team orientated, self motivated with strong follow through.
 
Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)
 
The jobholder will ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organisation. This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours required to support the Best Place to Bank principles of Make Better Products, Sell Them Properly and Keep Them Sold.
 
The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
 
This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.
 
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
 
The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
 
The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
 
This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
 
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)
 
·         Specific Technical skills: Analysis and design experience in…
o        N-tiered enterprise-wide applications
o        Client Server applications
·         Minimum 4 years application development experience;
·         Database design & development experience in SQL Server 2000 & MS Access;
·         Experience with interfacing distributed data sources (including raw data files) to a centralised database an advantage;
·         Experience in VBA development in Excel, VB6 and VB.net;
·         Experience of DataJunction/Pervasive Business Integrator or similar data mapping tool.
·         Experience of the full Software Development Life Cycle;
·         Experience working within a design framework, developing to design guidelines and coding standards, version control maintenance and enhancement of existing code-base;
·         Provide and manage application version release process;
·         Proven ability to design applications that will be used in low-bandwidth environments;
·         Experience working in the financial / investment management industry;
·         Time-management and prioritisation;
·         Organised approach to task completion;
·         Ability to work as a key team member;
·         Self-starter, proactive approach;
·         Excellent analytical skills;
·         Excellent communicator, both verbal and written;
·         Report writing / application documentation.
